Knob & Tube and Aluminum Wiring Replacement in Potrero, CA
Knob and tube wiring was state of the art a century ago, and aluminum branch wiring was a cost-saving shortcut in the 1960s and 70s. Both are common in older Potrero neighborhoods, and both create real fire risk as connections loosen and insulation crumbles. Unique Electrical Services replaces knob and tube and aluminum wiring in Potrero, CA with grounded copper.

Every project in Potrero starts with a thorough inspection of accessible attic, crawlspace and wall wiring. We document what is active, what is abandoned, and where connections show heat damage. From there we build a phased plan that replaces the risky wiring first and keeps your family's routine intact.
Aluminum wiring does not always require full replacement. In many Potrero homes, correctly installed connectors at every device and junction bring the system to a safe condition at lower cost. We explain both routes honestly. Homeowners in Tecate, Campo and Dulzura and across San Diego County have relied on that straight advice.
Look for these signs in older Potrero homes
- Ceramic knobs or tubes visible in the attic or basement
- Wire stamped AL or ALUMINUM on the jacket
- Warm cover plates or a plastic smell at outlets
- Flickering lights that no bulb change fixes
- Two-prong outlets throughout the house
